YouTube thumbnail size (1280 × 720), banner and profile photo
A YouTube thumbnail is 1280 × 720 pixels (16:9). The channel banner is much bigger, 2560 × 1440, because it has to work on TVs as well as phones. Pick a size below; Six-IR crops your photo to fit and can bring the file under a size limit too.

How to resize a photo for YouTube
- Press Resize to this size next to the size you need. The resizer opens with it picked.
- Drop in your photo (iPhone HEIC works). Smart crop places the frame around faces; drag it if you'd rather choose.
- Press Make the file and download it. To stay under 2 MB, set the maximum in the File tab. It's free, and the photo never leaves your device.
Need it for several platforms at once? Batch makes every size you tick for up to 10 photos in one zip, free.
